Amin was known for his brutal massacres of hundreds of thousands of people. It is estimated that he murdered over 200,000 people. One thing that Amin was into, was torture. Amin had built a torture chamber on the palace grounds where thousands would be executed. Amin would have the victim blindfolded and driven around in a car for a long time, in order for the vicim to get the sensation that they were far away from the palace. [37] The chamber floor was flooded with water and the only way to get through the chamber, would be by boat.[38] The water was electrified and would be turned on and off by command and when the entrance closed, the victims were left with no light[39]. Each chamber could hold about 500 people[40]. The victims would either be left in the chamber to starve to death, surrounded by feces, dead people and electrified water, be electrocuted immediately or suffocate to death from the lack of oxygen.[41] Sometimes if the people were left to starve, the conditions would get so bad that some of the victims would end their suffering by jumping into the water.[42] Still to this day, the walls and floors are stained with not only blood of the victims that perished there, but also the heart-breaking messages they etched into the walls before they took their last breath.[43]
