Public execution was introduced after a few years of his rule, when problems of his rule started to become more and more apparent. http://www.musemalady.com/
Once into power, Amin became a tyrant and began mass executions upon the Acholi and Lango. Six weeks into power, Amin crammed 32 army officers into a tiny cell, where they were blown up by a stick of dynamite.[28]The group that he killed were made up of Acholi and Langi Christian tribes. Since the Christians tribes had been loyal to Obote, Amin saw them as a threat and decided they had to be killed.[29] Amin also terrorized the general public through various internal security forces that he created and organized. [30]For example, the State Research Bureau or SRB, and the Public Safety Unit was apart of this. The, main purpose was to eliminate everyone who opposed his reign.[31] In addition to killing the Christian tribes, Amin also targeted groups that included the intellectually gifted, foreigners, politicians, reporters, homosexuals, religious leaders, lawyers, judges and other nationalities of people who opposed his reign.[32] In Amin’s first year of power, it seems that two thirds of the Ugandan army’s soldiers, out of 9,000 were executed.[33]On June 27 of 1976, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine(PFLP) hijacked a flight going from Israel to Paris. When the Israelis landed, Amin welcomed the terrorists with open arms and even supplied them with troops and weapons.[34] But, soon Amin realized that he had made a mistake. With the troops and weapons given to him, the Israeli commandos rescued hostages and raided the Entebbe airport.[35]Amin ordered the killing of several airport employees, hundreds of Kenyans who he believed were apart of the conspiracy, and an elderly British hostage.[36]Since Amin wasn’t prepared for this attack, it reflected poorly on him as a leader and thus most likely started the downfall of him and his reign.
